MSW Foundation Intern
Description
The MSW Foundation Student Intern is a first-year master's-level practicum student who builds foundational clinical social work competencies within a collaborative private practice setting. Under close supervision, the intern develops skills in engagement, assessment, care coordination, group facilitation, psychoeducation, and evidence-informed practice. Responsibilities include providing case management services, conducting biopsychosocial assessments, facilitating psychoeducational and support groups, assisting with community outreach and presentations, participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and maintaining clinical documentation. As competencies develop, interns may maintain a small supervised caseload of approximately 1–2 individual therapy clients. Foundation interns participate in weekly individual supervision, group clinical consultation, professional development activities, and practice meetings designed to support clinical skill development and professional identity formation.
Qualifications
Current first-year MSW student enrolled in an accredited social work program; Eligible for foundation practicum placement through their university; Interest in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practice; Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Commitment of up to 25 hours per week, based on university requirements.
