September is…playful

Welcome September! We thought we would try to get the iP blackboard up a bit earlier this month – on the third day, no less. Well done us!

So here it is, one of the best months of the year and a very playful one at that.

The clock represents a couple of things this month. The clock is ticking away for us. In particular, there is a countdown to October when we hope to publicly launch the Children’s Health & Environment Partnership. As well, Kristle will be delivering our Change the World at Work workshop at this year’s annual Certified General Accountants of Manitoba conference. It is their 35th anniversary and they have called on us to speak to the theme of Providing Leadership by discussing strategies for integrating sustainability into practice.

The other thing about the clock is that it is re-purposed. How cool is it that parts of this clock were once used in a bicycle? 1byliz reclaimed and reused both the textiles and the bicycle pie plate to create this great time piece. Very innovative.

These little building blocks are a great find from Paloma’s Nest and are perfect reminders of what’s important. Plus they’re fun. And they are crafted from surplus wood the artist uses for other items. Smart!

What could be more playful than a comic strip? We have long been devoted, adoring fans of Dan Piraro, artist-extraordinare and creator of Bizarro. I’m sure you have seen his stuff in your newspaper’s own funnies. We came to know Bizarro through the Globe and Mail many years ago and have a collection of favourites from 2002-2005. The one featured here is from August 15 of this year and speaks to a topic that is on everyone’s mind. Ours included.

Our snazzy Karma Coaching Cards are a great way to inspire people to take on easy actions in their day-to-day. We are keen to use them in our workshops and in some of the team building we do with our sister company - Options for Success Inc. These cool cards were developed by a Vancouverite named Jane Clayton.

Chris Piascik, a great artist based out of Cambridge designed these great tees. While at our Toronto office we are deeply committed to exhausting modes of active transportation. This is our idea of alternative energy technology – using our legs and feet to get us from point A to point B. Cycling will be a big part of that and since Toronto tends to have a longer season we can really clock some miles before snowfall.
