Walk the talk

Back to school has come and gone. And now it’s time to put our nose to the grindstone. It isn’t all work though… We’ve got some fun news to share with you.

WEBSITE UPDATE

We’ve taken a little time to update the iNSPiRED PRACTiCE website. There is some news about our new Change the World at Work workshop. And the Methodologies section now has content. This section is a snapshot of the various models, frameworks and approaches used in our work – Appreciative Inquiry, Deep Democracy, the Constellation Model and U Process. I will aim to post more information on each over the next month so that folks can get a sense of their application to our work.

CAR FREE DAY

Monday, Sept 22 marks Car Free Day and there are wonderful activities going on all over the place.

In Toronto, Yonge-Dundas Square is the place to be on Sept 22. In past years, the University of Toronto also closed off St. George Street making it pedestrian only. I couldn’t find any info on whether this is happening again this year. Get serious – it should be that way EVERYDAY. Of any demographic, students are the most likely to walk. Why? Because it’s free!

In Winnipeg, Resource Conservation Manitoba has coordinated a wonderful day of fun in the Exchange District. Albert Street from Mcdermot to Bannatyne will be closed to traffic from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday, Sept 21. There will be games, trivia, car free films, delicious food, and a pick-up game of street hockey (all ages and levels welcome!).

The Exchange District is the perfect area to make a pedestrian only zone. Maybe it should be car-free everyday. Let’s face it, with all of its one way streets - it’s a total pain to drive through anyway. Ditch the car and WALK.
