Back to school
I had a great chat with my uncle last night about his plans to get his elementary school on a greener path. He and his students have already worked with local naturalists and wildlife experts to develop habitat for the endangered shrike – a little known bird whose species is threatened by the dangers of modern highways and the loss of trees as meeting spaces and mating places. Our discussion focused more on the outdoor environment and environmental education opportunities for students, teachers and community members alike. I often talk about how to create an eco and people-friendly workplace and this morning it occurred to me that not everyone’s workplace is an office – it could be a classroom. So in anticipation of September which we all fondly remember as Back to School, I have created a series of inspired info bites for teachers, parents and students on how to create a planet and kid friendly classroom. They will begin next week so check back then.
